The call for script submissions for Eurodram 2020/21 is now open!
We are searching for three contemporary European plays originally written in a language other than English. Is your play eligible?* Check out the Competition Rules and how to submit, and send in a short script submission form with your entry. We look forward to reading your work.
*Quick check: are you a citizen, or resident, of Europe (or Central Asian or Mediterranean country)? Has your play been professionally produced? We need a “yes” to both!
Eurodram is a European theatre translation network covering European, Mediterranean and Central Asian languages. The network is organised into roughly 30 language-based committees.
Eurodram’s main objective is promote contemporary plays from across the wider European area to theatre professionals and theatre audiences.
The plays are selected through two biennial competitions.
In even numbered years, the English language committee selects three contemporary European plays originally written in English. In odd numbered years, the English committee selects three English translations of contemporary European plays originally written in a language other than English.
The submissions will be judged on the following criteria:
- The quality of the play.
- The quality of the translation.
- ‘Producibility’ – i.e. the suitability of the translated play for an English speaking audience.
Deadline: 5th January 2021, announcement of the results in March 2021.
